North Bend Residence: A private residence on the Bay

Front Entry Elevation

This building program called for an open multi-story home that had rooms that would "flow together".  This was accomplished by using a central wood stairway that would create a special feeling moving from floor to floor and give the spaces a sculptural feel.

It was important to the client to have various display areas for antique accessories without providing a separate "gallery".  Various size ledges, wall areas and spaces were created with a variety of materials and textures to allow the client maximum flexibility for display.  A variety of climatic conditions for plants was provided throughout the house, including a solarium for a dry, warm environment.  The residence is designed to utilize passive solar energy and maximize daylighting within the living areas.
